A stunning black mare with outstanding paces by Grand Prix and Elite Stallion Gribaldi - sire of Totilas! Cascadia is out of a Ferro mare, whom I owned and put in foal to Gribaldi and the wonderful result is Cascadia!

Cascadia loves to please and has an exceptional attitude and temperament. Her trot is elevated and powerful. She has a good canter and a loose correct walk. She will be presented for grading with the KWPN in September and we hope she will perform on the day and gain the Premium status she deserves.

Sire : Gribaldi
Cascadia's sire Gribaldi is ranked third in the list of the most successful dressage sires worldwide (WBFSH), was himself internationally successful at Grand Prix level with Edward Gal He was Champion stallion at his grading and also Champion of his Performance test and was Reserve Champion in the Pavo cup at the age of 4. He was awarded Keur status by the KWPN and named Trakehner Stallion of the Year in 2008. Gribaldi is of course the sire of the phenomenal Totilas!

In 1995, Gribaldi’s full sister Georgina was the best three year-old mare at the Central Mare Inspections in Hessen. Gribaldi’s dam, Gondola II became an Elite mare in 1995 on the basis of her offspring. Additionally Gondola II is the dam of the approved stallion Goldino who was performing at Prix St. George level at the age of seven years-old.

Gribaldi has consistently produced top-class horses such as:

Totilas - Edward Gal, Individual Gold & Team Gold at the 2010 World Championships,
............... Individual & Team Gold at the European Championships in Windsor
Painted Black, Anky van Grunsven - World Cup winner

There are 19 licensed sons of Gribaldi in Germany alone, including Trakehner Champion stallion Imhotep and Reserve Champion All Inclusive.

Grandsire: Olympic Ferro
Cascadia's grandsire Ferro is Legendary! Known as the "Black Pearl" of the Netherlands he captured the hearts of dressage fans around the world during many international performances under Coby Van Baalen. Magnificent, powerful, awe-inspiring, Ferro inspired a fresh influence in the Dutch breeding program. Ferro won the Team Silver at the 1998 World Equestrian Games, 1999 European Championships and the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney.

Ferro is one of the KWPN's foundation stallions, having sired over ten licensed sons. His legacy includes an impressive list of KWPN approved sons: Kennedy, Metall (Sire of Uthopia), Negro (Sire of Valegro), Rousseau, Pyriet, Paddox, and Osmium. Olympic Ferro sired the 2000 Champion Stallion of the KWPN Stallion Show in Den Bosch and the 2000 Champion KWPN Mare at Ermelo. With scores of successful offspring to his credit, Ferro earned the important predicate of Preferant stallion in the KWPN studbooks.

Olympic Ferro held the #1 position of the BN World Stallion Rankings late into his career and maintained an outstanding dressage index of 153 with the KWPN, boasting an impressive 87% reliability index. As a three-year old, he was Champion of his stallion performance test at Ermelo with impressive scores of 8.5 for his trot and canter. Olympic Ferro left over 35 Keur Preferant daughters, 145 Star daughters, 300 Studbook daughters and 150 1st Premium foals.

Ferro was also valued for his jumping influence. With over 111 points in the KWPN's jumping index and an 80% reliability factor, Ferro's jumping influence is readily explained further back in his pedigree. Ferro's sire Ulft descends from the valued influence of the KWPN Dutch stallion Le Mexico, who ranked 10th on the jumping index with 142 points. Le Mexico bears the world renowned influence of Furioso xx. Ferro's dam Brenda is by Farn, another stronghold in the KWPN jumper index. With 146 points, Farn nearly matches his preeminent sire Nimmerdor, who ranks 2nd in the KWPN jumper index with 155 points.
