Larkshill Stud is set in a beautiful secluded location in the heart of the Buckinghamshire countryside - providing an idyllic setting for breeding tomorrow’s dressage stars.
Core to Larkshill Stud’s ethos is that horses should be allowed to be horses and do what nature intended: grazing 24 hours a day if they choose and galloping and playing in the fields. Studies have shown that this “natural” exercise is essential to strengthen the young horses’ tendons and young muscles. For this reason, our horses live as a herd as naturally as possible. They live out all year round, with free access to big barns in the winter - coming and going as they please and of course growing their own big wooly coats to keep them warm! The foals benefit from being brought up in a herd as they learn all the necessary social skills from the older horses.
